What is the single most important thing attendees discover at your session?
That it is easier than you may think to be creative without breaking the bank. Some taste, some style and some creativity goes a long way.

What do you believe is the greatest innovation to affect the events industry in the past year?
Technology. May sound cliché, but all the social media tools give us the power of immediacy. That’s awesome.

Where do you find inspiration?
Everywhere – the seasons, nature, magazines, store windows, people in the streets…everywhere. You just need to actually look!

What excites you most about the year ahead in the events industry or your personal business?
The prospect of growth both actually and creatively. People are looking for beauty, originality and I am working on a book. Can’t share details yet, but very soon…

What is the best piece of business advice you’ve ever been given?
Be yourself. Be honest. Be fair…But be aware. Even when it seems like others around you are not living up to their end, you can wake up every morning and know that you have given it your all and you’ve done the best you can. In the end, it works out.

Born and raised in Santa Barbara, California, Nico Cervantes has always been enamored with the idea of nature – he was practically born with a flower behind his ear! By the age of eight, he was already decorating parties – a hobby that quickly grew into a lifestyle.

After completing studies at Santa Barbara City College and The Theater Arts Institute, Cervantes stayed true to his passion and continued working for numerous florists and event designers. With the desire to match his name with his talent, he began Nico Designs. Owner and lead designer, Cervantes has more than 15 years of experience with the concept, creativity and arrangements of florals and environments.

Well-known in Santa Barbara for his participation in numerous weddings and corporate events, he was named as one of Santa Barbara’s top floral designers by Knot’s “List of Best Weddings”, and has been often mentioned in Santa Barbara wedding articles.
