His teaching and research concentrations are in the areas of meetings, conventions, tradeshows and destination marketing.

In 2012 he received the Graduate Academic Advisor award for UNLV. He also received the 2011 Harrah Hotel college Boyd Distinguished Professor award for Teaching in 2011 and Service in 2007.
