San Francisco talent teams up to produce night at the Old Mint.
When Small Potatos Catering and Events teamed up with Blueprint Studios for a night at the Old Mint in downtown San Francisco for client GoPro’s holiday party, magic happened.
The theme was A Gatsby Affair, a mash-up of “20s and 30s roaring Barbary Coast Gold Rush Victoriana with a touch of modernism,” describes Kaia Jacobi of Blueprint Studios.
The Old Mint offered the perfect setting for the event, with a spacious granite courtyard and numerous counting rooms that have spaces to complement any vision. “The venue is a wonderful spooky old mansion and just begs to draw guests into each room each featuring a kind of still-life diorama,” says Jacobi.
They decided to set up a tent in the courtyard, drawing upon the lighting inspiration of a huge wall wash to create a rustic sort of winter wonderland. “The 20-foot by 40-foot clear-walled tent featured a Sierra Pine backdrop and elegant, hanging crystal chandeliers with scattered café seating,” explains Natalie Holland, sales director at Small Potatos. This space also featured a jazz trio to warm the interior with light and sound. Champagne and oysters were the perfect, potent pairing emblematic of the risqué mood of the 20s, when the “forbidden aphrodisiac” abounded,” she adds.
Other stations included a slider station, a pot pie station in the library propped out with taxidermy, dim sum, sushi and dessert.
More than 500 people feasted throughout the evening as they wandered from room to room discovering new delights, both visual and culinary. Gatsby would have been pleased.
